A: The statute of limitations is generally three years from the date when the seaman either was aware or should have been aware of the injury and its connection to the workplace.
Note that exceptions to the three year period apply to cases under the Public Vessels Act (PVA), Suits in Admiralty Act (SAA) and other maritime categories.
